Merged idea
This idea has been merged into another idea. To comment or vote on this idea, please visit IBMI-I-2644 EBCDIC to ASCII conversion in Navigator for i.

Navigator for i / .xml data translation from EBCDIC to ASCII. Download file from IFS to PC Merged

We have a procedure setup in System i Navigator - Client Access for
Windows, that generates several Data files / .xml documents in the IFS
on our iSeries. We then take those documents and download them to a
Windows workstation. During the download the data is converted from
EBCDIC to ASCII.

We recently upgraded to Navigator for i - Access Client Solutions. When
we attempted to download the files we discovered that it no longer
works?

Use Case:

Our system automatically generates a number of these files on a quarterly basis. We download the data and use it with a system external to the iSeries.

IBM has received this requirement and is evaluating it. A response will be provided when evaluation is complete.

    Hi

It might help if you could explain a little more about the issue, especially expanding upon "it does not work"

Is this the EBCDIC to ASCII translation that does not work? The file transfer itself? The conversion of the existing IBM i access for Windows transfer definitions?

What error codes do you get and when?

I've not seen this sort of issue with the new ACS file transfer yet, so I'm hoping you issue is one that can be resolved without any need for new feature enhancement.

Fingers Crossed for you Steve B
