This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

IBM i allows for passwords of lengths up to 128 characters, to accommodate various security requirements. In our case, user passwords must be a minimum of 12 characters, and we are planning a move to a minimum length of 15 characters, for enhanced security reasons.
When configuring BRMS to use secure DDM to connect to other systems in a network, the maximum length allowable is 10 characters. This is evident when using the command, INZBRM, and an option for *SECUREDDM. In this command, and apparently in the BRMS application, the maximum password length is 10.
We should be able to utilize passwords for the maximum length allowable on teh IBM i, in any IBM-supplied application, for matching of passwords.

Please read through the section for 'New Preferred Server Authentication support' which should address this concern. This section states, BRMS strongly recommends this new approach and that this removed the need to Setup a secure DDM profile for BRMS to use.
