RDi is available as two features, and therefore it is possible to acquire the right set of RDi function depending on development requirements:
- RPG and COBOL Tools Version 9.6
- RPG and COBOL Tools + Modernization tools (Java) Version 9.6
These features are sold per programmer (user) per product. The product is available ...
- as one-time charge via the Power hardware channel (AAS)
- as one-time charge via Passport Advantage
- as one year fixed term through Passport Advantage
- on a monthly basis to Managed Service Providers as one part of a Rational bundle
- as a trade-in to entitlements of the ADTS feature of Rational Development Studio entitlements
Discounts (up to 50%) are available through programs for some clients:
- Developer Discount program for ISVs, where hardware and software are acquired for the purpose of developing IBM i applications
- Business Partners, via PartnerWorld, for demo purposes
The current feature subsets and additional discount development offerings address the majority of IBM i developers' needs with pricing which is competitive in the industry. There are no plans to provide additional subset of RDi function.
In the current release, RDi includes a 120-day evaluation period. This will accommodate developers who wish to explore the capabilities of the product more fully prior to purchase.
IBM Power Systems Development - RDi team
Thank you for taking the time to submit your Idea. In order for it to fit better with other Ideas in the Ideas Program and capture attention of like-minded viewers, IBM has adjusted wording on this Idea.
In particular, the Title of this Idea was quite long, so it was shortened.
Original title was: "FREE Developer Editions of RDI. For alot of people like me who want to learn RPG programming cannot afford to buy RDI. Please make an RDI Developer Edition like Microsoft does for Visual Studio. If you are not willing to do that, then please offer an affordable yearly license fee around $300.00 per year for private individuals who are trying to better themselves for their IBM job."
Shortened Title is: "FREE or low priced Developer Editions of RDI"
I hope this captures the essence of your Idea well enough. The remaining part of your original title was moved to the Description section.
The Submitter has edit capability for this Idea, and can make further adjustments to the title and description, if desired.
