Add Web API to retrieve Security PTF's and Bulletins based on CVS level

I would like to be able to pull data through a Web API that would list the available PTF's for security bulletins based on the CVS level assigned to the bulletin.

IBM will use this Idea as input to planning, but no commitment is made or implied. This Idea will be updated in the future if IBM implements it. IBM will use votes and comments from others in the community to help prioritize this Idea.

I am truly amazed at the response from the CAAC?

Every survey in recent history that I have seen has shown that Security is one of the biggest problems facing the IBM i community. Even members of the CAAC regularly post on social media that the IBM i community has severe exposures in relation to security vulnerabilities, yet they are now saying the IBM i community already have an understanding of security bulletins and fixes needed? How can that be?

Surely IBM adding a secure and easily accessible list of security bulletins is in the best interest of the community? We (Shield Advanced solutions) have done it on behalf of the community already, but the time it takes us to search and find the security bulletins online (we even have signed up for notifications with filters specific to i5OS (There is no IBM i filter available) and get no notifications of the problems) makes it difficult to keep that list up to date and accurate. Plus it would make more sense for IBM to manage that list.

I would therefore request that the CAAC take another look at exactly what this means to the IBM i community, we have over 16 LPARs running internally for demo devlopment, managing that environment for each security bulletin is not a trivial task and having some automated method of doing that (we have created a monitor that looks at each bulletin and PTF that fixes it and checks for the installation of the PTF.) has helped us get an understanding of the issues we had but had no clue about.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM not implement this request. This request would not help the overall IBM i community who already have an understanding of security bulletins and fixes needed on their systems.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
