IBM i LAN CONSOLE IP obtain via DHCP or allow to be set form command line.
The dafault IP for the lan console works great when essentially connecting direclty to the plaltform ethernet lan card through an open personal switch and a non-managed laptop. However, try this is today's restrictive networks and it is a struggle. There is a feature to alert the switch via DHCP but there is nothing to obtain an IP lease via DHCP. BOOTP is fading so the primary broadcast is ignored in our network.
I would settle for the ability to set the IP from command line as I already do that with the SST users and permissions using commands added IBM iOS 7.2. I recognize that using DHCP for the console would add extra to the firmware and there may be some that would not want DHCP IP lease to happen automatically.
