Display the content of global variables

When using global variables in (noMain) modules included in either programs or service programs, it is currently not possible to view the content of these global variables when debugging the (service) programs.

Use Case:

This new feature will help debugging NoMain modules (located in either programs or service programs) where information is stored in global variables to be accessed or manipulated from other procedures (within the same module). This technique is often used to mimic object oriented behaviors, i.e. data is stored in a global data structure and accessed through procedures.

In noMain modules with embedded SQL where the SQL communication area will be included in the global D-Specs. Until now the content of the SQLCA (or any of its subfields) cannot be displayed in noMain modules.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems

Could you please clarify if this is a feature that is available in the System Debugger that you would like to have in the RD Power debugger using service entry points?

Also could you check to see if you have the following PTFs applied on your IBM i system:
    PTF '5761SS1 V6R1M0 SI46773'
    PTF '5770SS1 V7R1M0 SI46774'

These PTFs fix an issue with the System Debugger related to local/global variables. We need to know if your request is satisfied when these PTFs are applied or if something else is needed.
    Thanks,

This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.
