Hello,
during an incident where a few IBM SVC nodes went offline and storage pools were not available anymore we encountered a problem with the system performance due to the automatic resuming of mirrored protection.
A few minutes after the inital incident all IBM SVC nodes were up again and all LUNs were available again. At this time all IBMi partitons started automatically with resuming of mirrored protection. Because of this, the system performance was affected heavily and the business impact was basically that no customer could log on and our web shop was down as described in the case TS011791720. This lead to us suspending the process and doing an IPL so that we could manually resume the protection afterwards.
My request for enhancement is: Please enable or implement the possibility to deactivate the automatic resuming of mirrored protection.
We would like to start resuming step by step manually to prevent performance issues or even to prevent a system freeze during business hours.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Kind regards
K.Schmidt, Cordes & Graefe
