Regular expression scan and replace

Please add 'replace' to the regular expression search. In particular, the ability to use back references to capturing groups is very much desired.

Use Case:

I had an SQL script that was several hundred lines long which I wanted to put into a CL program. Basically, the script cleared test data from my test database. The original script looked like this:

delete
from mbrdev.role
where createuser='BUCK';

delete
from mbrdev.member
where createuser = 'BUCK';

What I wanted to do was convert these to

runsql 'delete +
from mbrdev.role +
where createuser=''BUCK''' commit(*none)

runsql 'delete +
from mbrdev.member +
where createuser = ''BUCK''' commit(*none)

In particular, I would have liked to use back references to add the ' +' to the 'from mbrdev.TABLENAME' lines. Which might look like:

findText regularExpression replaceWith "\1 \+" "(mbrdev\..*)"

This general idea works in other editors, like Notepad++

    This feature is now available in the IBM Rational Developer for i V9.5 product with V9.5.1 update installed.
    The updated documentation for the findText command is available here:

    Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.

    A preliminary evaluation of the documentation request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this request is underway.

    Apparently, the back reference IS available, but instead of \1, the syntax is $1 The help for findText has a link to Java regular expression patterns, which specifically notes:

    Back references
    \n Whatever the nth capturing group matched

    So perhaps what I need is better documentation.
