Improvement of existing CCSID 1388 to cater latest China National Standard 13080-2022

Recently China Information technology authority announced the latest national Chinese coded character set GB18030-2022 and make it mandatory for all the banking industry.

There are a lot of new rarely use character set added into this GB18030-2022 and causes the existing IBM CCSID 1388 not able to fully cater for it.

As such we would like to request IBM to take action to improve the CCSID 1388 to cater for additional Chinese word in GB18030-2022.

Without this IBM i user not even able to capture and keep the Chinese character in DB2 file.

If IBM able to do this enhancement, then this will benefit for all WW IBM i that would like to capture the Chinese word in their DB2 file.

We agree that this enhancement would provide value to extend the character list for CCSID 1388.
Moving the status to the next level to pursue further.

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority Idea that is important to be addressed.

This affects a whole industry in the country. It is essential that this be addressed.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address.

This seems important to keep chinese customern on the platform.
