This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Option 1:
Since you already configure your systems using an IP address, you could alter your configuration as follows so a description can be used for system selection:
1. Select System Configuration (from main GUI)
2. Create a New or Edit an existing system entry.
3. On the Connections tab, go to the Performance section. For "IP address lookup frequency", select "Never - Specify IP address". Then fill in the IP address for the system.
4. Then on the General tab, you can fill in whatever description you want in the ?System name?. Since you specified "Never ? Specify IP address" on the Connections tab, the description you fill in for ?System name? will not be used for a DNS lookup. On the main GUI, whatever description you entered for ?System name? will be displayed for the dropdown list of systems.
Option 2:
Beginning with 1.1.9.0, System Group support was added so that systems could be logically grouped together. As part of that support, we also provide an alternative view of the main GUI by selecting View-->System Groups. The System Group view shows the System name and Description. All actions available from the Main GUI view are also available from the System Group view. You can go back by selecting View-->Back to Main. The columns viewable by the System Group view can be configured from System Configurations, using View-->Columns?
