This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

This feature was delivered in version 9.6.
ILE RPG Fields that are renamed by externally-described I-Specs are now fully supported.
The feature that is described in this request is a candidate for a future release.
I am trying to reproduce the scenario with:
dcl-f cust1 disk;
* -------------
* RENAME FIELDS
* -------------
Icustom01
I CUSTNO CustNumber
I see in the outline view that
CUSTNO under the cust1 file has a INTFLD(CustNumber) showing what it is renamed to
and under fields I see
CustNumber with a reference to line 6 where it was renamed
and no CUSTNO field (since it is not in the RPG name space)
So what is the problem here? This looks fully supported.
Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
