This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

In DB2 for z/OS there are utilities to generate a print/hard copy report instead of displaying the SQL query on screen, I find in DB2 for i OUTPUT(*PRINT) is not available or valid, and don't know of DB2 for i utility to do so. Printing high volumes of data or reports not used like previously years ago, but for ah hoc queries not thousands or larger volume would be good to have, and generate spool file print output, then in ACS generate a PDF of the query to either print, or archive on a PC (less expensive storage device).

The solution we provided is a new scalar function service, SYSTOOLS.GENERATE_SPREADSHEET. This takes a query as input and generates a spreadsheet in the IFS
You can read about it on the fact page here: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7031280
And in IBM Documentation here: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=services-generate-spreadsheet-scalar-function

CEAC has reviewed this idea and considers the function to already being available.
Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT
Sabine Jordan + Sara Andres – CEAC Program Manager, IBM
Have you tried this?
RUNiQRY SQL('select * from mylib.myTable') OUTPUT(*PDF)
I appreciate IBM's consideration of this RFE
