In BRMS, need functionality to display the library name or a name to show the contents of the SAVF created by BRMS.

I use BRMS to backup key libraries, SAVSECDTA, SAVCFG and some IFS folders.

The backups are saved to SAVF's partly because this is much faster than going to tape directly and we are a 7 x 24 operation. Example, saving to SAVF takes approximately 10 minutes. Saving to tape takes more than an hour.

The SAVFs are copied or FTP'd to a NAS. This is quick.

I then use BRMS to do a SAVSAVFBRM and this works great. Teh SAVF's are deleted as part of that process. Tapes are sent off site and the SAVF's are not as accessible as the NAS.

Problem:

BRMS creates SAVF's with its own naming convention. The SAVF's are deleted once they have been copied to tape. Once the SAVF's are deleted there is no cross reference or log of the BRMS SAVF name and the contents of the SAVF.

REQUEST:

Please add a cross reference as a history and log file that we can go back and review days, weeks or months later.

The BRMS team does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time. The request does not align with the strategy for future investment in BRMS which instead offers alternate solutions using virtual tape instead of SAVF and backups to the cloud using IBM Cloud Storage Solutions for i product as preferred solutions for this type of environment.
