Process to meet Department of Defense or NIST Media Sanitization Standards

IBM currently does not have a process that has been vetted to meet that DoD or NIST compliance level for Disk Sanitization. There used to be a product called "Disk Sanitizer" available from our lab services team for purchase but that was sunset due to lack of interest. With increase concern in government operations to conform to CISA, NIST and DoD standards it is necessary to have a process to allowing proper wiping and sanitization of the disk when disposing of an IBM-i server and the Hardware Management Console.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement. They understand the value - but with the move to NVMe or external storage (where this function exists) they consider other enhancements to be more important.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT
