We wish to make you aware of the ability to use Eclipse APIs to be notified of when an editor is opened or saved.
For example one can use the IPartListener.partOpened() to know when an editor is opened:

Also we wish to make you aware of the git source control which is freely available on the IBM i.
At this point we do not feel that this requirement should take precedent over many others that have no work around and would be of interest to many more of our clients.
Sounds like a good idea.
Thus you can check that the source member is opened in the Development library. Otherwise an error could be send if an user tries to edit the source in the production source library.
