set coulmn width for SYSTOOLS.GENERATE_SPREADSHEET when export to excel

It would be useful to be able to set column width for each column or *auto to make width fit data when creating excelfiles from SYSTOOLS.GENERATE_SPREADSHEET.

Then the result looks better when creating and sending reports from the machine.

This enhancement was delivered in June 2024 with IBM i 7.5 PTF Group level 7 and IBM i 7.4 PTF Group level 28.

GENERATE_SPREADSHEET has been enhanced to generate proportional width columns for xls and xlsx formats.

You can read about it on the fact page here:

The SQL procedure SYSTOOLS.GENERATE_SPREADSHEET does not produce native Excel spreadsheets - it creates a comma-separated values (CSV) file, which does not have any formatting information.

So it is not possible to specify any formatting this way.

Instead I would suggest you look into Python or JavaScript libraries and use these to create a native Excel file with the formatting required. I have previously used the Python module xlsxwriter with great success.
