Idea new DB2 for i Command

Idea-new command in SQL- similar to CPYTBLRECF or DUPTBLRECF: command would provide a function to copy selected records between tables either fixed record and field lengths or variable only check command would validate same record/field lengths with option to delete or not delete the original record from the from table. It would be more efficient, and not require custom programs or utilities not available, or having a CL program to effect the copy and delete. I would believe companies using IBM i that track inventory would benefit greatly in reduced lines of code, addition programs, etc

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this Idea at this time, so it is being closed.

While we understand the request, it is part of a complex topic that we do not plan to cover with SQL. This request could be solved with ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) tools. The consultants in IBM Technology Expert Labs have experience in this area. You can contact John Westcott (JWestcott@ibm.com) to learn more about the services this team can provide.
