Provide a CTL-OPT keyword to prohibit or issue a compiler warning when 6 char dates are used in RPG programs that will not work after 2039

dsply %date('010140':*mdy0) ;

it will show DSPLY 1940-01-01

which is wrong.

At least issue a compiler warning.

.IBM believes that the solution for the Idea described is available with PTFs for 7.4 and 7.5.

A new DATEYY Control keyword is added. With DATEYY(*NOALLOW), you can get a severity-30 error message when a date or date format with 2-digit years is used. With DATEYY(*WARN), the messages are severity-10 warning message.

The following PTFs provide support for the DATEYY Control keyword:
    7.4 TGTRLS(*CURRENT) - 5770WDS SJ02912
    7.5 TGTRLS(*CURRENT) - 5770WDS SJ02922
    7.5 TGTRLS(*PRV) - 5770WDS SJ02923

A new DATEYY parameter is added to the CRTBNDRPG and CRTRPGMOD commands.

The following PTFs provide support for the DATEYY parameter:
    7.4 - 5770WDS SJ02911
    7.5 - 5770WDS SJ02921

See the "What's new since 7.4?" page in the ILE RPG Reference for 7.4:https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ssw_ibm_i_74/rzasl/rpgrelv7r4post.htm

See the "What's new since 7.5?" page in the ILE RPG Reference for 7.5:https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ssw_ibm_i_75/rzasl/rpgrelv7r5post.htm

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority Idea that should be addressed.

Having the compiler warning should bring this problem to the fort front. For more information, please refer to: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=ios-changes-1940-2039-date-range-date-formats-2-digit-year

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

IBM will use this Idea as input to planning, but no commitment is made or implied. This Idea will be updated in the future if IBM implements it. IBM will use votes and comments from others in the community to help prioritize this Idea.

If this Idea is implemented, an option will be added to either give a warning or an error if a date with 2-digit years is used in the program.
