IBM RDi 9.5 RPG, Cobol Provide RSE port number parameter in eclipse.ini

Rational Developer for i 9.5 (SP2) is installed in a Citrix environment. We noticed that occasionally developers encounter a TCP port collision for Rational Developer (Remote Systems Explorer) or RSE component. Error message RSEC2201:E is issued when two developers use the default TCP port of 4300 within the assigned workspace. IBM informed us that there is no way to alter a parameter in a .ini file to programmatically control this behavior. We have to manually assign TCP ports between (4300 - 63000) for developers which is a pain. We would like the ability to tie a eclipse.ini parameter "RSE PORT = 99999" where 99999 is assigned TCP port in a future update to RDi. This would allow Citrix engineers to control the port assignment rather then developers manually updating this setting.

Use Case:

From the Rational Developer for i GUI action bar
Select Window
Select Preferences

Click arrow to left of Remote Systems
Select Communications
Fill in your designated TCP port number in the dialog box to the right (4340 shown ? use your assigned port range from attached spreadsheet)

We shipped a rolling port # that works in Citrix.
In version 9.6.0.7 we addressed this issue by allowing the RSE port number to roll and then store that port number, so users and administrators are not required to adjust the Eclipse.ini file.

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.
