SQL scalar functions SETENV and GETENV

SQL has many ways to store and retrieve configuration parameters. Tables, global variables etc. However when SQL is not the only part of the loop environment variables is mostly used else where for common configuration.

So where SQL interact with java, C, RPGLE, CLLE, and all the PASE environment, it will make sense that configuration could be stored and retrieved from environment variables.

SETENVVAR implementation can be found here:

https://gist.github.com/NielsLiisberg/d33b4697c04078c32bea5d219aa49111

GETENVVAR implementation can be found here:

https://gist.github.com/NielsLiisberg/093b9bc18b603abac5a297ec239aa690

Bonus:

If the environment variable is not defined when used in the scalarfunction GETENVVAR it would be great is a default value could be supplied (haivning it own default to NULL)

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority Idea that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your Idea.
