Add ORDER BY Creation Date/Time to WRKSPLF and add *USRPRF option and System Value for Same

Our end users tend to keep SPOOLED files "forever" so the more days that pass, the longer their list of SPOOLED files becomes. I would be extremely helpful to provide a User Profile-based option for "SPOOLED File Sequencing" that is applied when User are viewing the list of SPOOLED files. The default should be *SYSVAL which should be something like QSPLSEQ *ARRIVAL  | *CRTDATE
Which is likely the same (internally) as *ASCEND *DESCEND so you decide on the options.
The idea is that when the Creation Date is selected for the sequencing it will show the SPOOLED files in sequence by Creation Date/Time in Descending order (last first).

It should be respected on WRKSPLF, WRKOUTQ and anything else that I may be forgetting, that is user-facing. Obviously the default would be *ASCEND for the System Value and *SYSVAL would be the default for User Profiles.

Just this enhancement alone would encourage some Customers to upgrade to that release level.

IBM will use this Idea as input to planning, but no commitment is made or implied. This Idea will be updated in the future if IBM implements it. IBM will use votes and comments from others in the community to help prioritize this Idea.

I'm not sure why all the negativity here, but the simple ability to order the WRKSPLF/WRKOUTQ output by Creation Timestamp DESCENDING ORDER is improtant. Many, many shops do not permit end-users to access the "PRINT" interfaces of ACS. Simple because someone thinks that's who it should be done, doesn't mean the Mgt at Companies care to be controlled. They want the existing interface to work better.

As for the youtube video, thanks, I already know how to use APIs to accomplish what I need and have been doing that for decades. However, since no one in the IBM i marketplace buys software, the justification to continue to develop new interfaces for the Comminity doesn't exist. Thus, IBM has to do it. Thank you for your feedback.

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM not implement this request.

The Printer Output in ACS already exists. For more information review comment above.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

Hi, if I have understood your idea correctly, then already how the ACS "Printer Output" function works, this will also all you to filter, change sort and even select multiple items for deletion.

There is an example of this in the video below:

    Hope this helps
