Create an API for Code Coverage SEP

Getting Code Coverage with a Service Entry Point (SEP) is only possible through interactive processes with RDi.
Having the same feature through API would enable to work in a CI/CD pipeline.

I am representing the IBM development team. We would like some further clarification as we consider this requirement.

    1) Would you be willing to have the APIs go through RDi, or should this solution be completely on the server?
    2) Would it be acceptable if the API all of the following with one call:

    • Use the input parameters to set an SEP on the specified location

    • Run the specified program in a separate job using SBMJOB

    • Switch to CC mode when the SEP is hit.

    • Generate a CC result at the specified location

    • Remove the SEP when CC is done

Or did you expect to have bracketing calls to set up the SEP in CC mode, then have the freedom to call the program in whatever way you wish and then make a concluding call to remove the SEP and generate the CC result.

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority Idea that should be addressed.

An API will make the function usable in multiple environments.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

Integration with DevOps is in the roadmap of any modernization. Code Coverage means control and both should run in the same workflow.
