ACS - Run SQL Script - is there a way to have it retain the last folder used?

TS015526296

I use Run SQL Scripts many times a day.
I either need to open a new script or save a script to the IFS across multiple LPARs/systems.
Every time, I save the script, I need to navigate my way from my home folder (/home/developer) to the folder I need. This is annoying and wastes a lot of my time. Doing it to go down 3 or 4 folder levels is not fun.

Saving to other LPARs makes this worse.
I have tried to use the drop down in the scripts screen, but that is also many clicks to complete a save.
I don't mind navigating there the first time, but thereafter, it should stick in that folder until I change it.
I need a better way. Is there one?

TIA, Darryl Freinkel.

If we iterate through the exact steps provided, the last path used is remembered. In the original request and the referenced Case (TS015526296), multiple LPARs are being used, but the steps provided only include the usage of 1 LPAR. We do not remember the last used path on a per LPAR basis nor do we plan on adding that support. That is likely the issue you are having has you navigate between LPARs and select different paths for opening and saving files. If you are using multiple LPARs, consider the suggestion we posted on Apr 5, 2024.

Thank you for submitting your Idea to enhance IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS). We have read the referenced Case you opened with IBM Service as well as the description in your submitted IDEA to enhance Run SQL Scripts (RSS). Today, when using Open or Save in combination with ?IFS Stream File?, the starting default location is the last location referenced and it assumes the current connected system. Since you often navigate to other systems/lpars, it sounds like you would like RSS to default to both the last referenced location and last referenced system (regardless of the system RSS is currently connected). Defaulting to the last referenced system may introduce confusion for users that rarely visit other systems and expect the default to be the currently connected system. We could consider providing additional preferences for the ?IFS Stream File? option to allow the user to choose a preferred behavior. However, there may already be an existing solution.

If you need to reference a master location across systems, you could use a mapped network location. This could be anywhere in your PC network (including a mapped network drive to an IFS location in any of your lpars). When you need to update or reference the master location, use Open or Save and select the ?PC File? option. That option also remembers the last location referenced and it will be independent of the lpar to which ACS is connected. So when you need to reference the master location, you could use the ?PC File? network location. When you need to propagate the updates to the various lpars, you could Open the master location using the ?PC File? option and then do the save using the ?IFS Stream File? option. Would something like this meet the requirement?
