This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

String replacement and transliteration is an extremely common task in business applications and communication to external parties in international settings.
This produce a lot of custom code (and a lot of substandard one) in IBM shops. To do it properly and in a standard way one must leverage a commonly used library like ICU (used in a lot of systems) and created by IBM itself.
Please provide a BIF to leverage the ICU (QICU library already in the IBMi system, please update the SRVPGM there also) transliteration/transform facility.
The RPG BIF will support standard tasks on unicode strings like
Common transliteration i.e. биологическом -> biologichyeskom
Accents or signs removale i.e. Katálogos -> Katalogs
Special characters removal based on unicode class attributes (i.e. separators)
Reduce unicode to ASCII set.
etc.
see https://unicode-org.github.io/icu/userguide/transforms/general/
use:
s = %UTRANS('NFD; [:Nonspacing Mark:] Remove; NFC;' : 'άmyèxàmplé' )
will apply the transform in the first parameter to the source string returning the result in s
s will contain
'αmyexample'
allowing a public easy access to the transform engine will allow to produce robust international software reusing the effort of the ICU team (ICU4C exposed as SRVPGM).

Really IBM???? You apparently converted/migrated the ideas database to a new one, and you basically messed up this entry removing all the "non latin characters" ?? In 2024 and still not able to proper handle basic unicode during a conversion process, also in your web systems? C'mon not a great publicity ....
