Extending more IBM i Alerts for OS system limits

I am proposing an enhancement to our current IBM i alert system to improve our system monitoring capabilities and enable proactive management of potential issues.

Current IBM i alerts are limited to monitoring only 8 predefined events.

While these alerts serve as valuable indicators of system health, they may not provide comprehensive coverage of all potential issues that could arise within our IBM i environment.

To address this limitation and ensure that our system administrators are equipped with timely insights to address emerging issues, I propose extending the alert system to include additional event IDs. By expanding the scope of monitored events, we can effectively identify and address issues before they escalate to critical levels, thereby minimizing downtime and optimizing system performance.

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM not implement this request.

Since there are vendor and Open Source monitoring solutions and work around on the systems, this should be rejected.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

IBM will use this Idea as input to planning, but no commitment is made or implied. This Idea will be updated in the future if IBM implements it.
