BRMS ICC - create command for resending media to cloud location

Hello,

With BRMS ICC we got transfer issue and location is showing the cloud one in WRKMEDBRM but in *TRF status.

When executing the command STRMNTBRM MOVMED(*YES) it's not resending theses failed volume to the cloud.

We need to manually retake them to the *HOME location with WRKMEDBRM and option 8 and do again option 8 to the cloud one to relaunch the L00000* transfer job.

It is a manual action in a 5250 menu if i want for example scripting it to automatically resend failed volume i'm stuck because i cannot change the location for a specific volume with the actual commands.

Can it be improved?

Best Regards,

Axel C.

The BRMS team has requested more clarifying information. Because the additional information was not provided within 30 days, the request has been closed.

The main reason the current process requires manual interaction from a BRMS perspective is that BRMS calls ICC to initiate the transfer and BRMS expects a response. If the transfer fails, it should return a failure that BRMS can handle. In the case described, do the transfers in WRKSTSICC show a Status of FAILED? If that is the case, a failure should have been returned to BRMS and it should have been handled differently and we should treat this as a defect and look into that case to understand why BRMS did not see the failure and handle it. If the Status is ACTIVE, then how do we know if the transfers are still running or not? The BRMS development team is concerned with the current direction that has been advised if the WRKSTSICC shows ACTIVE. The SQL statements that were advised would report the same information for a working active long running transfer. We don't currently know of a way to successfully identify if a long running transfer is actively working or if it has timed out unless a failure is returned.

With IBM advise i did a script to retake file by doing :

    SELECT  CHAR(VOLUME_SERIAL) AS MED FROM QUSRBRM.MEDIA_INFO WHERE VOLUME_STATUS = 'UPLOAD' AND CURRENT_LOCATION = 'CLOUD_LOCATION' AND OWNING_SYSTEM LIKE '%SYSNAME%'

And checking if in QUSRICC.QICCLOG there is no ongoing transfer with SQL statement:

SELECT USRDTA FROM QUSRICC.QICCLOG WHERE ENDTS IS NULL AND USRDTA LIKE '%MEDIA%'

If i got no record i'm doing CHGMEDBRM  VOL(MEDIA) LOC(*HOME) and after looping on all the faulty media i do MOVMEDBRM  SYSNAME(*LCL)

But can it be simplified ?
