With the last announcements of IBM storage, the IBM Spectrum Virtualize Software is enhanced with the new functions based on Policy-based HA (the new Hyperswap function).
The PowerHA system mirror for i, today doesn't support this new function and Storage brand announce that the current known Hyperswap will be removed starting with the next version of IBM Spectrum Virtualize Software (now the last version is 8.7). From a technical point of view the old Hyperswap presents itself to the IBM i hosts as a single cluster with a PowerHA LUN switching configuration. The new PB-HA is based on a concept of Logical HA partitions and it presents itself to the IBM i hosts as a dual node cluster. PowerHA LUN switiching is not able to support this configuration.

We can't wait to see it supported to match multiple customer requirements.
PowerHA system mirror for i support in PBHA is becoming an important issue for many customers and, we have some embarrassing situations with our business partner too. They're waiting since last summer. It's urgent now. Thanks
Good morning. Any updates on the case? We have several IBMi customers with Power HA and Hyperswap who need to refresh their storage infrastructure and adopt the new PBHA storage functionality. What are the prospects for supporting the PBHA storage functionality of Power HA in the IBMi environment? Thank you in advance for your feedback.
The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority Idea that is important to be addressed
We feel that Hyper-swapping is of great value for the PowerHA tool kit.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that urgently needs to be adressed. Otherwise, PowerHA could not be used in this setup any more which would render the high availability setup of customers useless and could impact there environment dramatically.
