Allow %subarr() to be used in a logical expression.

%subarr() is useful in interactive programming to initialize many indicators at once.  When initializing the screen, I can use %subarr() like this:

%subarr( *in: 51: 5 ) = *all'0';

to turn off 5 indicators starting at 51.

Checking several indicators at once is cumbersome, however.  I thought I would be able to do this:

dcl-s Result ind;
Result = ( %subarr( *in: 51: 5 ) = *all'0' );

But I get a compiler error "Array has too many omitted indexes".

I also cannot use %subarr like this either (same compiler error):

if %subarr( *in: 51: 5 ) = *all'0';
  Result = *on;
endif;

This syntax would be a useful shortcut as the list of indicators grows.

    IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this Idea at this time, so it is being closed.

    %SUBARR returns an array and comparison operations do not allow arrays.

    To check whether all the elements in the sub-array are '0', you can use %LOOKUP to look for the value '1'. If %LOOKUP returns 0, it means that it did not find a '1' element, so all the elements are '0'.

    dcl-s Result ind;

    %subarr(*in : 51 : 5) = *off;
    *in52 = *on;
    Result = ( %lookup(*on : *in : 51: 5) = 0 );
    // Result = '0' because indicator 52 is on

    %subarr(*in : 51 : 5) = *off;
    Result = ( %lookup(*on : *in : 51: 5) = 0 );
    // Result = '1' because all the indicators 51-55 are off
