Export Outline View Contents

The Outline view has drastically improved over the last several RDi releases. I propose that the data from the outline view be able to be exported. This data could then be used for a number of helpful things, but it would be especially helpful in creating program documentation.

Use Case:

Today there is not a good toolset available to create documentation for RPG programs. Java has Javadocs, php has PHPDocs. RPG has a couple of open source projects but none of them are able to parse and extract the program information for Free Format or Fully Free RPG.

By making the data from the outline view exportable it can then we used by open source tools to generate documentation without the open source tools needing to create and maintain a program parser because the Outline view already does a great job of this.

This RFE is a duplicate of another RFE.
See RFE25264: RPG Docs (like JavaDocs) in Content Assist (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=25264) for current status.

Yes the ultimate goal is to have a JavaDocs type functionality for RPG and CL. I believe these can be merged; however, it concerns me that the other RFE was opened in 2015 and has had no progress or comments. I have also presented this topic for discussion in the LUG meetings.

Would the following RFE be sufficient to address your scenario?

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.
