This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Rather than rely on the CHGCMDDFT command to change the default for the CPYENVVAR parameter of the SBMJOB command, it would be extremely beneficial to have a QSBMENVVAR System value with *YES or *NO as an option. Then on the SBMJOB command, change the shipped default to CPYENVVAR(*SYSVAL) with the shipped system value setting of QSBMENVVAR(*NO). Thus no changes to existing code needed. Then customers can change the system value and have things work the way they expect. The benefits of this are obvious and should be implemented as far back on the release level as practical.

Not really sure I understand this request. Could be that I misunderstand the request completely.
A use case would be needed why you would want to have CPYENVVAR set to *YES for all SBMJOB.
If any environment variables are needed for all jobs that submits then, why not add the environment variable on the system level instead of changing or adding the environment variable before submitting the jobs?
If you really need CPYENVVAR(*YES) as default, why is not CHGCMDDFT sufficient?
The CAAC has an interesting point. Somewhat vague, but interesting. Care to expand on what you mean?
The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM not implement this request.
This could cause unintended consecuencias like globalizing the copy environmental variable.
