RDi "BYOE" (Bring-Your-Own-Eclipse) Edition

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

The idea is, to have RDi as an BYOE (Bring-Your-Own-Eclipse) install, which can be integrated into any existing Eclipse installation (even under Linux).

This way, RDi would open up to more developers, especially to developers running Eclipse on Linux (incl. the Raspberry Pi). It would also be an option for developers on macOS and Windows, if they need special plug-ins that are incompatible with the Eclipse version that is shipped with RDi In the P2 packages.

The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM not implement this request.

This would not be a valuable use of resources dedicated to RDi Management and Development.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
