This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

SYSPARTITIONINDEXES and SYSPARTITIONINDEXSTAT include many usefull informations about logical files (DDS type). Since they are a valid substitute for the use of APIs, it would be very useful if logic files with shared access were also included in these tables.
Adding a column indicating the sharing condition and, if possible, additional columns with the sharing details would make the two tables usable for many of the basic functions needed for database maintenance and operations.
If the idea is not accepted, it would be necessary to update the documentation of the two tables, highlighting very clearly that the logical views with shared access are not included.
Currently the indication is only present on SYSPARTITIONINDEXSTAT.
The risk is that the maintenance utilities that use the two tables, not seeing all the views, compromise the use of sharing access path by creating indexes with separate maintenance (useless and expensive).

The source of the information returned by the SYSPARTITIONINDEXES and SYSPARTITIONINDEXSTAT views does not reflect LFs that share access paths. Since the information is not available, a completely new index service with a new system interface would need to be created.
As this Idea recommends, the documentation for these views will be updated to indicate that a logical file that shares an access path is not returned by the view.
