allow for parameters in the ACS .hod file for connecting to 5250 console

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

a user has to navigate 9 screens to get signed on to the system console. I would like to have parms in the .hod file for the console session to circumvent these screens.

The missing steps you refer to are not necessary for a single session. bchx files are an optional way to conveniently start multiple sessions. As there is already an existing alternative solution, the original request is being Declined.

After I submitted idea, I found the process described. the missing step in your list is to FIRST start the shared sessions on the HMC. the last step was to save the console session as a .bchx file to place on my desktop

My thoughts? Some people are paranoid of giving the users access to the main iACS screen and have them select Console. The last thing most companies want to do is to secure their data. They'd prefer 'security by obscurity' and green vs an easy to use GUI.

Some 'end users' need console to do dedicated backups, etc.

That, and tossing up the main iACS screen would be adding a screen to their task.

They'd rather have a .hod file on the users workspace which the user can simply click on.

Thank you for submitting your Idea to enhance IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS). For HMC consoles, there is an Advanced configuration that can be set through System Configurations, Edit the system, select the Console tab, and then Advanced. You can also use the HMC Probe Utility on the main GUI to find the specific console within your HMC for your partition, then save it to your configuration. After using either method, then you can select the System from the main GUI and launch to it using 5250 Console. That should avoid the abundance of panels you are referring to. If that is not sufficient, please explain why with specific steps of what you are doing.
