SQL function for CVE currency

Customers need a way to audit compliance with IBM i CVEs. Each CVE is published with a corresponding patch from IBM. A SQL function similar to PTF currency will give customers the ability to check the patch status for all CVEs published by IBM. The SQL function should "phone home" and pull in a list of published CVEs for IBM i. It should then check the OS to notify the customer which (if any) of the CVE patches have NOT been applied.

The idea is good but seems premature.
There is flux occurring in the domain of tracking exploitable vulnerabilities.
It is among the near-term possibilities that the industry will pivot to the LVE metric.
LVE might be the best way to pair PTFs with auditable meta-information.

I smell a LUG requirement for this as well….

This SQL service is sorely needed if IBM i Security Admins are to have a chance of staying on top of the PTFs required to patch vulnerabilities.

Also see idea IBMI-I-3307 which has the same functionality except the request is based on web API's in the same manner IBM provides the PTF data to the IBM i customer base.

Very useful function that is required in these days and times.

This is a critical requirement that came from Enterprise security. As a financial institution, we must be able to map CVEs to IBMi Fixes and have the ability to check currency against own environments.
