Warn customers before Defective PTFs are applied

Customers often download CUMEs or HIPERs well before they plan to apply them. During the interim, one or more PTFs may be marked defective, but the system allows the PTFs to be applied without warning customers. The following scenario is a possible alternative:

  1. The customer at 7.5 orders the latest HIPER using SNDPTFORD or Fix Central.
  2. Time passes, during which one of more PTFS in the list is marked defective and appears in this list:

  3. The customer uses GO PTF option 8 to load the PTFs for delayed apply at the next IPL.
  4. The customer is offered the ability to run a SERVICE like DEFECTIVE_PTF_CURRENCY which checks to see if any of the PTFs marked to be applied has been marked defective.
  5. If so, the customer is prompted to either download a new HIPER, or can take the opportunity to omit a PTF, depending on the situation.
