RDi Library List View Enhancements

a) Library List Connections dropdown should be ordered with the active connections first, not Alphabetical order
b) Clicking on an inactive connection should not automatically attempt to connect - an action should be required first
c) The Library List Data Table should be on a scrollable pane so the buttons do not move to review the list
d) The Connections list drop down should contain an icon to quickly determine if a connection is connected.

Use Case:

Connection dropdown: Upon activating the Library List View, it attempts to connect to the first connection in the list. That connection may not be connected and results in numerous attempt to connect dialogs.

Library List Data Table: When the presented library list contains a quite sizable list, the action buttons remain at the top of the list and disappears when scrolling down to the bottom of the list.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature. This could be helpful to a number of users, but should be a preference if implemented. Similar utility is available by using the Remote Systems Explorer or one of the commercial add-ons.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

We have reviewed this requirement and we feel it would be a beneficial enhancement to the product. We hope to be able to add it to our development plans in the future.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.

a). Could this be made a preference? (Active order or Alphabetical order.) There will be situations where an inactive Connection is required. Scrolling through Active connections to reach the desired Inactive item would be frustrating. In addition, for some an Alphabetic list is more easily navigated.
