Enhance the SNMP or PJL driver to allow drawer control for PDF files

Enhance the SNMP and/or PJL driver to allow the inclusion of PJL drawer commands to allow PDF files to print to specific drawers. Currently IBM i does not support PCL6, and that, combined with the ease of using color with PDF files, has meant that more customers are printing PDF files directly to printers from their apps or through the use of the QCTXPDF WSCST object provided with Transform Services. However, PDF files are *USERASCII, so HPT does not send source drawer commands with them. And because PDF files do not contain a source drawer attribute of their own, this means that the drawer which is used will be the printer default.

The driver could wrap the PDF file with commands like:


ESC%-12345X@PJL

@PJL JOB NAME = "jobname.pdf" DISPLAY = "Print Job jobname.pdf"

@PJL SET MEDIASOURCE = TRAY2

@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE = PDF


Then include the PDF data and end the job like this:


ESC%-12345X@PJL

@PJL RESET

@PJL EOJ NAME = "jobname.pdf"
