Outline - Show Declared DISK Files' Defined Usage

In the Outline view of RDi, within Global Definitions then Files, there is a list of all declared files in the program. It would be extremely useful to display a DISK file's defined usage, so we can easily see all *update/*output/*delete/etc. capable files at a glance.

Use Case:

A developer is used to working with fixed-format code, and can easily see which files have *update/*add capabilities at a glance by scanning through the list of file specs.

When viewing a free-format code, they are uncomfortable with the possibility of file specs being declared further down in the program, and the format of the declaration can be inconsistent (depending on the original developer's choices when declaring the files).

The Outline view does a great job of clearly listing all of the DISK files, with their keywords, which they love. But it doesn't show the usage capabilities of the files, so they can't determine which are *update/*output/*delete/etc. capable files at a glance.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
