Retain PowerHA Geographic Mirror cluster information when doing image capture and volume clone

Hello,

For some time now (I’m unable to pinpoint exactly when), PowerHA Geographic Mirror no longer retains cluster information when performing an image capture or a volume clone operation. This functionality used to work correctly — for example, we previously migrated several LPARs using PowerHA Geographic Mirror from Power9 to Power10 with image capture in under an hour, quick and straightforward.

At the moment, this is no longer possible because the cluster information is not preserved.

Restoring the ability to retain cluster information during image capture or volume cloning is extremely important, as this regression removes one of the key advantages of PowerVS for environments.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards and Happy New Year 2026.
