As a long-time IBM i developer and administrator, I strongly support this idea. Better zoom controls and more space for the actual charts would make Investigate Data much more practical for everyday analysis and troubleshooting.
I fully support this idea. In its current form, the usability of the Investigate Data charts has significantly decreased, especially for detailed performance analysis.
The chart area is relatively small compared to the space occupied by navigation controls, which makes data analysis difficult, particularly on laptop screens. Additionally, navigating through the timeline is not intuitive. Verifying short time ranges, such as 1-minute intervals, is cumbersome and requires excessive scrolling and manual adjustments.
Another important limitation is the current zoom mechanism. Relying solely on Ctrl + mouse wheel is neither intuitive nor practical. Users working on laptops with touchpads often cannot use this functionality effectively, making detailed analysis of performance data extremely difficult or even impossible.
A dedicated zoom control and a horizontal navigation bar (scrollbar) allowing smooth movement across the selected time range would significantly improve usability. Increasing the chart display area while reducing the space consumed by auxiliary controls would also enhance the overall user experience and analytical efficiency.
These improvements would make the Investigate Data charts more accessible, intuitive, and effective for day-to-day performance investigations.
