This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Someone should review this one with the Fortra team -- it MAY have become a non-issue. It is quite old and several operational enhancements have been made to the outline view since then. I've noticed quite an improvement in the last couple of years, and recently that nothing gets parsed until I leave a line -- not on every keystroke like it used to long ago.
Sorry I completely disagree that this should have a LOW priority.
IMHO it should be at least medium to high.
Working remote at home via VPN connection is a real PITA because it updates and updates
and every update takes several minutes or more to complete.
And every update restarts every time you makes a keystroke.
Thus the outline is useless.
I also experience that saving the source when connected via VPN takes a long time even if it is only a small program to be saved.
The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” LOW priority feature.
Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
Of course it could be done by first locating the option in Remote Systems LPEX Editor > IBM i Parsers > ILE RPG
but I agree that the most elegant way would be to have a button with the Outline. Also in connection with how slow the Outline works when working remote via a VPN connection.
One nice thing could be the ability to right click on a file name in the Outline and select update definition in order to force a reload of the definition of the file. This should also be possible for other parts like data structures based on files and copy sources.
