This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Just to be clear. My connection is not slow. And it works fast for all other applications but for RDI.
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature. If you are running on a slow connection, you need to expect to allow more time for an upload, and watch for the existing messages. Granted, many more of us are working remotely these days, but if it does not keep a lock and save it all, then it would be a higher priority to change behavior.
Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

You should check this RFE:

It might give you the cause for the slow communication via VPN connections.
The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
Does this merit an RFE? If the VPN connection is so slow, why not work disconnected - saving source to a local directory before uploading it? (This is exactly what RDi is doing anyway.) Is it desirable to have the LPEX view remain open - with the potential confusion this might cause?
No, it is not locked.
I experienced it a couple of times yesterday.
Hitting the "X" and selecting save changes. Then the screen with the source closed.
I opened the source in PDM for a quick change. Then RDI showed me an error that the member was locked.
If I have opened the source in RDI and then try to open it in the PDM then I'm told that the source is locked by RDI.
It looks like that when saving the source in RDI then the lock on the source member is released before the member is saved ( "synchronized" ).
Isn't the source locked then ?
