This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have reviewed this requirement and we feel it would be a beneficial enhancement to the product. We hope to be able to add it to our development plans in the future.
The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.
Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

It would also be very helpful to have the option to retain Remote Scratchpad contents across sessions. In other words, the ability to SAVE/RESTORE, (or EXPORT/IMPORT) Scratchpad contents. Currently, when RDi is ended the contents of the Scratchpad are cleared.
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. The CAAC recommends that anywhere there is a member, we should be able to apply user actions to it.

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
Any chance we could add the library of the object?
Another issue is that when you dock the Remote Scratchpad to the same area as the RSE, you can't drag & drop items to the scratchpad.
@Parkib and @msddcb, what version of RDi are you using? I tested the saved state of the Remote Scratchpad using 9.6.0.3 and all of my objects (local, remote members and IFS objects) were restored.
The local objects are always restored at startup. The remote and IFS object are only restored once the connection is established.
Working offline makes the objects disappear. Working online and connecting restores the objects to the Remote Scratchpad. This persistence occurs between restarts, provided you do use proper credentials on a connect
@Parkib, I agree that you comment about persistence is a relevant and useful request, but it would be better served by opening a separate RFE just in case we can't deliver these together.
Thanks
Consider also that the addition of these actions ensures the Context Menu is consistent with Object Table and RSE views.
The ability to save a Scrtachpad list across RDi restarts is a significant productivity boost. This requirement was outlined in RFE 87812 - but rejected on the basis that Filters can be used to achieve the same result. On the contrary, as MSDDCB has indicated the current working set may involve a mix of objects, source members, IFS files, etc. - impossible to achieve through a single Filter.
I have started using the scratchpad and find it extremely useful but would like the option of having the list retained over restarts. The scratchpad lets me have entries from many different areas, commonly I will have php scripts from the IFS and different service programs from different source library/files and if I don't complete the task I am working on I lose this list when shutting down to go home or if I encounter a problem with RDi and have to restart RDi.
I am almost using the scratchpad as a mini project to track each member that I have changed.
