This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.
Welcome to the IBM Ideas Portal (https://www.ibm.com/ideas) - Use this site to find out additional information and details about the IBM Ideas process and statuses.
IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com) - Use this site to view all of your ideas, create new ideas for any IBM product, or search for ideas across all of IBM.

We have reviewed this requirement and we feel it would be a beneficial enhancement to the product. We hope to be able to add it to our development plans in the future.
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM not implement this request. There is already a solution that accomplishes this in a better way, namely use the "Copy members to..." When you right-click on selected members in any context, you will get a dialog box where you can select the system or LPAR to which they will be copied, as well as which source files or naming. See more details in previous comments from Vern, who now uses this solution all the time now.

I also just noticed the "Copy members to..." option, both in the member list in a member filter and in the list of members when opening a source file in an object filter, and probably when you have drilled down to a member list anywhere.
This seems like it can fulfill the requirement another way - so instead of taking the "Copy" option on a member, then trying to find the "Paste" option in the list of a member filter, use this instead on the member you are copying. You can even select the system where you want to put the member(s).
This can also be used instead of a change in the PDM perspective - I have an RFE for that, but now I can use this.

I just verified what the submitter reports - I have a library filter for my test library, and an object filter for all the source files in that library - I can use the object filter well enough.
But there are member filters that seem to be created by RDi, and I have often thought, ah, I can just paste a member into that. This would be especially useful when copying source between systems, which the PDM perspective doesn't allow with the 3-Copy option.
Now as I write this, I wonder about adding multiple members in a member filter. In fact, it is possible, at least, to make a member filter over a generic file name, such as Q*. In this case, it is not a simple of simply pasting a member into a filter like that.
So I'm not sure about the practicality of this request.

Vern wants to play with this a bit before final CAAC assessment...
The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed.
