IBM Power Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Remember compile type per member

RDi remembers the last compile type used, for example CRTBNDRPG or CRTRPGMOD, however this is not per member. This always requires to right-click on the member, and select the proper compile type instead of just doing a CTRL-C to compile.

Use Case:

PS. Maybe something similar can be done as on IBM i projects where some properties are stored in the .ibmi directory ? (I know it is client specific but it's better than nothing).

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address. Having this feature would improve the productivity of programmers.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

We have reviewed this requirement and we feel it would be a beneficial enhancement to the product. We hope to be able to add it to our development plans in the future.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature. It would seem perhaps you could provide a default based on member type, which is the same thing that PDM does today.

Although the theme of this request is consistent with our business strategy, it is not committed to the release that is currently under development.
