Improve the Reconnect process for RDi

When working remotely for the past 2 years I connect to our corporate network via VPN prior to opening RDi. Everything works fine in RDi until my VPN connection drops. At this point RDi still shows as connected.
When I reconnect the VPN and try to open a source member nothing happens. Also trying to save a previously opened source member fails. However, if I try to open a folder or file in the IFS I get a dialog box asking if I want to reconnect. After selecting the button to reconnect everything works normally.


Use Case:

RDi should handle reconnecting more seamlessly. Use the same reconnect method for source physical files that is used for IFS files. It should recognize there is a connection problem and offer to reconnect.
Perhaps also have a button to reconnect.

    The CAAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority Idea that is important to be addressed. This is a real problem in the remote world, whether it is a true enhancement, or a need to focus in general on retaining current state while in recovery situations to make recovery more robust.


    Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM icommunity, and has therefore reviewed your Idea.
