This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The feature that is described in this request is a candidate for a future release.
Many many people are switching to Mac. Even IBM is now issuing MacBooks instead of Windows Laptops. I have switched 5+ years ago and I still have to run a Windows VM on my Mac for the sole purpose of running RDi. The fact that RDi can be run on Mac via a Windows VM is NOT an acceptable excuse for not delivering a native Mac version. Come on IBM, get it done please.
I teach a RPG and other IBM classes to young programmers. I cannot tell you the number of young people that are disappointed by IBM's lack of support for their Macs.
Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems
I think we even could live with a version without verifiers, if that is hindering the delivery of a mac version.
My company and the community would appreciate support for OSX. Most development shops as well as the majority of anyone coming into the IBM i community to develop will be doing it on a Mac. They are the premier development computer for any other mainstream modern environment. The verifiers have been a sticking point, I know, but I would wage 99% of developers would rather have a version sooner without verifiers than later with. The lack of completely functionality to get a product in OSX is something that Mac users are used to and would allow this community to appear more modern to younger developers.
An ever increasing number of IBM i developers are switching to Mac - I switched 4+ years ago. Currently the _only_ software I use that requires me to use Windows is RDP - I would love to get away from that restriction.
This RFE will be under consideration for a future release. Status has been updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
If it means support the Mac OS X operating system to RUN RDp natively to develop POWER IBM i applications, then I vote yes!
This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.
