This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The feature that is described in this request is a candidate for a future release.
Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems
I would like to have this Preference for the c-s-a window, which I mainly use to view production source; on our system developers have read-only access to production source, so if I forget to select "Browse" an extra window pops up asking if I want to open in Browse mode, since I lack authority to Edit. Either way, a Preference would avoid extra key-strokes.
The ability to set a Browse-or-Edit default on each filter would be a useful feature too. What I do NOT want is a single preference that controls both filters and c-s-a.
I will add my typical usage here - the main time I use Ctrl-Shift-A is while working in Turnover, an SCM product.
I would not edit anything outside of that product's control, so being able to default Ctrl-Shift-A to be set for Browse would be a great timesaver.
I especially liked the note in the original post about "read-only filters" -- that'd be a HUGE help since 90% of my filters are, in fact, over libraries I should NOT be changing...
It would be helpful if the editor tabs displayed a different icon when in "browse" or "write" mode
This RFE will be under consideration for a future release. Status has been updated to Uncommitted Candidate.
I would like to suggest an alternative / extension to the above. I am interested to see the Open Member dialogue remember either the last open state for each member, OR an open preference for a library.
The case for this is slightly different to the original. We use many /COPY members that never change which live in a Standards library. If we use the Open Member dialogue to open these (which we don't want in change mode) along with other source which we do want to change, the last type of open mode for the member or library could handle it.
The original design of this request would still be of great utility though and I have voted for it!
This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.
