Rational Developer for Power Systems needs to support Kerberos Authentication. This is necessary because our systems are being used to service federal contracts where Kerberos Authentication allows us to meet FISMA requirements. IBM introduced Kerberos, Enterprise Identity Mapping, and Signle Signon almost 10 years ago on the iSeries, and this was highly publicized with several Redbooks on the topic, but their development tools for these systems still don't have this capability? Development tools used with these systems need to be able to support the authentication mechanisms provided by these systems. Perhaps this could easily be added by using data sources that already have provisions for Kerberos Authentication?
This will allow users to fully adopt single signon solutions that allow for enhanced security and meet FISMA (and possible other) security requirements. This will allow users to authenticate once to Windows Active Directory (or another Kerberos Server) and then with Enterprise Identity Mapping, connect to the Server without the need for additional signons.
