Desired Function: Text Assist that works in the same manner as PCOMM when running DTM for iSeries (3rd party product)
The specific commands WRKDTMDOC & EDTDTMDOC were originally reported as not working, but none of the commands will work until Text Assist is supported by the ACS emulator.
It is not yet known which technology interface is being used for the data exchange, but some help text in PCOMM mentions PCO.EXE so this may be the possible interface used there. It does not appear that EHLLAPI has any part of this.
The current lack of support for Text Assist results in a failure when trying to open/edit a document within DTM. The screen blanks and the Input Inhibit is on (X). User job log shows no error (until session is disconnected).
These other products have been tried and work:
1. IBM Personal Communication 6.0.13 (http://www-03.ibm.com/software/products/en/pcomm) : contains the 5250 Emulator from Client Access. Officially supported on Windows 8.1, but maybe it also works on Windows 10.
2. Micro Focus Reflection Desktop (https://www.attachmate.com/products/reflection/desktop/) : also supports Text Assist. A trial is available, we tried this version and saw no issues.
The 3rd party product is Inventive Designer's DTM for iSeries. This product has been in use by us ever since IBM discontinued support of OfficeVision/400 which is heavily integrated into our core business custom application.
iSeries Access for Windows is not supported in Win10
The DTM product is heavily integrated into our core business application
As we already own a site license for the emulator, simply upgrading to iAccess is logical from both a cost and user familiarity perspective.
